Tapestry, A Unitarian Universalist Congregation, is seeking an intelligent and resourceful candidate to join our team as an Office Administrator (OA). This is a part-time position averaging 15-25 hours per week with a salary range of $12,480 – $20,800 annually. We are a rapidly growing liberal religious congregation of approximately 160 members located in Mission Viejo, CA.
SUMMARY
Under the general supervision and direction of the Minister and a representative of the Board of Trustees, the Office Administrator will enhance Tapestry’s effectiveness by providing broad-based general office and financial secretary/bursar support. The OA performs varied administrative and support duties requiring a knowledge of office routine and organization, computer and word processing proficiency and an understanding of the congregation, denomination and procedures related to the work of the organization.
We are looking for someone who is extremely pro-active and self-driven with a critical eye for detail and can work independently with minimal supervision. Candidate must be highly organized, able to handle and prioritize multiple projects, and be comfortable working with committee chairs and volunteers.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Producing a wide variety of documents using word processing software.
- Composing/editing clear, concise letters, reports and other written material.
- Performing essential financial secretary and bursar duties.
- Maintaining financial data and information in the computer software program.
- Coordinating, entering and maintaining congregation’s membership information.
- Maintaining congregational calendar.
- Answering phone, taking messages or routing calls to appropriate parties.
- Maintaining office supply inventory; ordering and storing supplies.
- Contributing to Tapestry team effort by providing assistance in project completion.
SKILLS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
- Diplomatic and able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software (Word and Excel). Ability to learn church database software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or BA degree preferred.
- 5 years secretarial, administrative or office support experience.
- Prior experience working in a church setting or a UUA congregation a plus.
- Knowledge of website administration, familiarity with WordPress or blog setup and maintenance, or ability to learn. Prior experience with setting up and managing a web site is a plus.
